How to configure ftp synchronization in 7 steps - quick start

Start "Configurator" application.

Step 1. Set Proxy and FTP Firewall options if required (works only for FTP connections).

Step 2. Create new FTP connection.

Step 3. Create new 'FTP', 'Run Executable' or 'Zip Archive' profile.

If 'FTP'profile was chosen then select local folder, choose existing FTP connection, select FTP folder, set options and exclusion masks filters.

If 'Execute program' profile was chosen then define executable path, executable working directory and executable type.

If 'Zip Archive' profile was chosen then define archive path, list of included folders and file patterns being excluded.

Step 4. Configure and test mail account.

Step 5. Set log and mail reporting options (Optional).

Step 6. Set time interval. The synchronization starts every N minutes where N - is selected time interval.

Save project.

Start "Service Controller" application.

Step 7. Set current project as selected for an execution. Only one project (document) can be executed at once. All synchronization profiles that had been created and enabled in project are executed. Profiles executed in order as they listed in document configurator application table. (You can change the order of execution by "Up arrow" and "Down arrow" buttons in project configurator). Start windows service to start background execution of selected document. Windows service application writes activity report to log file: [Install path]\ISM\FtpSync\ftpsync.log. If email account configured appropriately email reports sent to all registered recipients.

Start windows service to start background synchronization.

To run monitoring tray application at windows startup check appropriate checkbox.

Since version 3.0.2.1 'Activity monitor' application exists. Activity monitor application is sitting in Windows system tray and monitoring FtpSync service activity in variety of ways. Note that activity monitor application does not do the actual job. You can close it at any time. Meanwhile FtpSync service will continue its background activity.

- Service stopped. - Service running in idle mode (waiting for next transaction). - Service running and performing synchronization task.

Activity monitor popup window.

Activity monitor main window is a message queue containing N last service messages.

To switch on/off activity monitor popup window and define message queue depth use activity monitor settings window.

When transaction completed FtpSync service generates report on uploaded/downloaded files in HTML format. You can view it via Activity monitor tray, menu 'Show Report' command

or menu 'Show Log' command
